Trish Melendez, Zumba Instructor, Belly Dance Instructor, CPR/AED certified
Since Trish was able to walk she started moving her hips to the merengue and salsa music her father would play at home. Later, her love of Latin and international music led her to study the art of belly dancing, which she taught for 7 years at Cornell University for Teszia Belly Dance Troupe.
After Trish's first Zumba class with Sue Fahrenkrug she knew she had found her passion. Never before had she experienced a fitness class that was so much fun she couldn't wait for the next one! Trish incorporates her belly dance background in her Zumba classes by mixing Egyptian belly dance, Indian bhangra, and Bollywood dance moves into her routines. She keeps her classes fresh with energizing Latin beats and hot routines that are easy to follow and fun for all ages!

Marte has loved Zumba since January of 2008, when she participated in her first Zumba class. Since that time she has gone from one day a week to four to five days a week participating in Zumba classes. The next logical step was to get certified to teach Zumba. In 2010 Marte became certified to teach Zumba and in 2011 she became certified to teach Zumba Gold. She realized that many people her age were interested in participating but were afraid to attend a class with much younger people. Zumba Gold is the answer.
The biggest difference between Zumba Gold and Zumba is that Zumba Gold is modified for students who want a much lower intensity class. It's just as much fun, just not as fast! Zumba Gold utilizes the same great Latin styles of music and dance.
Marte teaches Beginner Zumba, in which students will learn the basics of the dance steps and rhythms used in Zumba -- salsa, cha-cha, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton, and calypso. Marte also teaches Zumba Gold for those who want a modified, less intense Zumba class.

Kati first experienced Zumba in the summer of 2010 with Sue Fahrenkrug at Binghamton Zumba and quickly became hooked. When she moved to England in the fall of 2010 to pursue a Masters in Public Health very few facilities offered Zumba as a fitness class. This inspired Kati to become certified as a Zumba instructor (training certified by Naomi Di Fabio Mokoena) and offered classes in fitness and community settings in Bristol, UK. Now, back home in Binghamton, NY Kati is excited to be working with Binghamton Zumba offering Zumba and Zumbatomic classes to the community.
With an educational background in public health Kati is passionate about helping others live healthy lives and loves having found Zumba to become fit in a fun way. Her classes offer upbeat songs and easy-to-follow energetic moves incorporating meringue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton and belly-dance. Zumba classes are focused towards individuals ages 13 on up while Zumbatomic classes are focused towards children ages 5-12 years. Hope to see you in a class soon!
